Fox Tails: A Tale of Exploration and Survival

Fox Tails is an enchanting game made in 24 hours for a game jam hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University. Immerse yourself in a captivating adventure where you embody a fox navigating the vast depths of a mysterious forest.

A Team Effort

I took charge of coding the menu and UI system. Feel free to use these assets as you see fit; simply download and import the .unitypackage below. The UI elements each have public functions to update and reset their values. You can play around with the UI values (labelled "Current Value") in the inspector.

Alongside me, Hannah "TheSilverDragoness" was our skilful world and asset designer, while Mason's expertise brought the fox to life with a responsive character controller.

Gameplay

Balance your fox's hunger and warmth levels as you traverse and explore the rich landscape. It is recommended that you play this game fullscreen.

Note: Hunger, warmth and time have not yet been implemented to the game. For now, you can explore the world freely.

Controls: WASD to move, hold shift to sprint, and space to jump.

Files

  • FoxTailsMenuUI.unitypackage: the menu and UI system ONLY. This includes a scene to demo the UI, so you can play around with this as you see fit. Currently, the menu is set to trigger scene index 1 when the play button is clicked.
  • FoxTailsGame.zip: the full Unity project containing Fox Tails.
